Hi there. although it is a wonderful and very useful idea to write phnotically. but threre are many defeciency in Persian writng with this method. If you download and write a few sentences you will notice the problems which shoudn't be difficult to fix it. arrows, and parantheses work in opposit direction. and there is a problem when you try to combine English(latin alphabet) and Persian. Hope they fix it.

Hi Maziar,

I suggest you try installing a right-to-left language (Farsi by default in Windows) in Windows Control Panel Regional Settings (Languages tab). Once installed, associate it with the Persian keyboard in Keyman Configuration (Languages tab).

Then when you enable that language using the Windows Language bar and the Persian keyboard, you can type right-to-left and the parentheses should work fine.

It's unfortunately rather confusing, but once it's working it works well.

Salam maziar Sakhaei

Tavultesoft keyman keyboards work best under Windows ME or 98. Under Windows XP they also work, but here Farsi keyboard can also be loaded in Control Pannel, Regional Settings. There you can also alot keystroke combinations (Ctrl or Left Alt + ...)to various keyboards.
Those who write in two languages simultaneously, it is advisable to alot keyboard-macro commands for switching between Arabic(Farsi)and Latin keyboards. You can handle this klicking Extras/Preferences(in German Anpassen)/keyboard (Tastatur)/All commands. Then choose Run (Laufumschalten) and give Alt + L as keystrokes to change from Latin to Arabic and the other way round.
Through this Forum I would also like to ASK Marc Durdin whether or not he is going to put up the PASHTO KEYMAN KEYBOARD I sent him, for Downloads. He had promised to do so. Should this Keyboard be put up for downlads, It should solve both Farsi and Pashto textwriting problems.

Hi,

I have uploaded the Pashto keyboard as requested -- apologies for not getting this done sooner. It should now be available under the Keyboards section of the website.

You say that Keyman keyboards work best under Windows 98 and Windows ME, but this is not actually the case. Neither Windows 98 or ME has full Unicode support, whereas Windows XP does.

Hi Paul Durdin,

Thanks for doing so. The best way to prove whether or not a keyboard functions under an operating system is to try it. Windows ME may not have full unicode support, however, the Pashto keyman keyboard I produced does the needful; when properly installed, one can produce Pashto or Farsi text in Microsoft Word 2000 and upwards. I've not yet tested it with Word 97. It may not work 100 % in other programmes. The prerequesit is that Arabic keyboard should have already been installed in the system.

friendly regards
