# Configuring Keyman 6.2 with Windows 7   2010-06-06 00:56:16.857
Clare Roberts
I use Keyman 6.2.171.0 and have just got a new computer with Windows 7 and Office 2007. I think I have installed Keyman correctly (with 'GreekClassical' keyboard) on to my new computer but when I turn Keyman on and then try and type something in Word (or in an e-mail) no text appears. I assume that there is some setting that I need to alter so that Word and Keyman can 'see' each other but I've no idea what! Any help appreciated.

Clare - Keyman 6.2 was not designed for Windows 7. If you would like to run Keyman on Windows 7 you should upgrade to Keyman Desktop 7.1. You may trial Keyman Desktop 7.1 here:

Hello Clare :)
I don't know about windows 7, But I can run Keyman 6.2 on vista.
Go to
1)Program Files
2) Go to Tavultesoft folder
3) Go to Keyman Folder
4) Select Keyman.exe
5) Right click on it
6) Properties -- Compatibility mode
7) Select Windows XP SP 2 -- apply -- ok

It works for my Vista Home Basic. As Vista having a XP mode & If your Windows 7 (most probably Premium Version) have this XP feature then it may works.

Regards
Arun

Arun, this workaround means that basic functionality may work, but many of the more advanced features do not work correctly. We cannot support Keyman 6 on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Hi Claire, Keyman Desktop 6 is now very old and was not designed to support Windows 7. If you have a license for Keyman Desktop 6, please contact [email protected] for a special upgrade price to Keyman Desktop 8.0 which will support Windows 7 (and 8).

Regards,
Jeremy
