We are using the south Sudanese and Dinka keyboards but cannot get the \ key to work properly. Whenever it is used a small squre box appears instead of any characters. Can you help with this?
Thanks

mcdurdin Tavultesoft Staff | I have just tested the Dinka keyboard from our website and did not experience this problem. Are you using a European or a US hardware keyboard? There are also two Dinka keyboards available on our website - do you know which one you are using (Southern Sudanese 2.1 or another)?

steveFlan | I'm using a US keyboard and have tried both the South Sudanese 2.1 and the Dinka unicode. Wondering if it could be a faulty download. |

Unlikely to be a problem with the download; which app are you trying to use the keyboard with? Can you type into Microsoft Word, select the square box, press Alt+X, and tell us what value appears? |

steveFlan | Trying to use it in Word. I selected the square box symbol from the insert menu then alt+x and nothing came up. |

Actually, wanted you to press backslash ()that generates the square box), then select that and press Alt+X. However, if that is not working it may be due to an old version of Word - which version of Word are you using? |

steveFlan | Am using Word 2000 SR-1 Brought up the square by pushing \e (any combination using the \ will insert this but not the \ alone) Highlighted this and pushed alt + x and it stays there. |

steveFlan | Found that whenever I press alt + x with cursor set after the box symbol it then repeats the box. |

Okay, I understand the issue now - I wasn't clear from your earlier description, I thought you meant that pressing backslash would generate the square box - which was concerning me. You need to select a font appropriate to the language, such as SIL Gentium, downloadable from: http://tavultesoft.com/keyman/downloads/keyboards/downloadfile.php?DownloadFileID=645 You will need to follow the instructions on that page to install the font onto your system. steveFlan | Installed Gentium, works a treat. Thank you very much for your help and patience Marc. I know some Sudanese people who will be very grateful.
